Jai Dev was born on April 1, 1926 and graduated in Medicine from Gurukul Kangri, Hardwar. After a short period of Private Practice in medicine, he founded Lakshmi Medical Hall, Ambala Cantt.,a trading business in medicines. Over the years, LMH became a well –known name in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh in the field of Medicine Sales. His pioneering efforts have resulted in Ambala becoming a center for Pharmaceutical Distribution.

A Visionary, who is an avid reader, traveller, social worker, philanthropist, and promoter of arts, Dr. Jai Dev has a vast repertoire of knowledge on various social and religious subjects. In his social life spanning over 46 Years, he has led various organizations including Sangeetalok, Gandhi Peace Foundation, and Rotary Club of Ambala. From 1995-97 he was the President of Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For over 32 Years, he has been on the Executive of various educational institutions in Ambala, including Arya Girls College, Janta Vidya Sabha, DAV Public School and Rotary School for Deaf, of which he has been the Secretary since its inception in 1985. He has also been on the Court (highest governing body) of Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar. Dr. Jai Dev has been conferred with various district and state level awards. Most recently he has been awarded “Service above Self Award” by Rotary International. This is rare honour bestowed upon only 150 Rotarians from all over the world. He has been actively involved in starting a Cancer and General Hospital and School for Deaf Childern at Ambala Cantt.
